As experienced Phoenix hit and run accident attorneys, we know that it is important to investigate the scene of a hit and run accident as soon as possible. Recently, ABC15 reported about a man who was struck twice by different vehicles, with the second vehicle leaving the scene of the accident. The victim was a man said to be in his late 40’s, who was crossing the street near 7th Avenue and Camelback Road at around 4:30 in the morning. The first vehicle that struck the man stayed on the scene to check on the man and helped by waving at cars so the man would not get hit again. However, a second vehicle struck the man and then fled the scene. The first driver has not been cited. The pedestrian was not walking in the crosswalk and was said to have been impaired. The victim was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police are currently looking for the second vehicle.

Arizona State Pedestrian Law
According to the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) 28-793A, a pedestrian should cross the street on a designated crosswalk where the pedestrian has the right-of-way. However, even though a pedestrian has the right-of-way in a crosswalk, not all vehicles will stop. Therefore, it is still advised to look at all directions for oncoming vehicles before crossing.
