Three Children Seriously Injured in Phoenix Car Crash

As Phoenix car accident attorneys, we never like to hear about people hurt in car accidents, but it was especially difficult to learn about three children who were seriously injured Saturday, November 5 after a car crash near Seventh and Missouri Avenue. The three were taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital after the crash, according to ABC15 and are ages 4, 7, and 8. The 8-year-old was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious road rash and other injuries. There aren’t reports yet about how the younger children are faring.

Phoenix Car Accident Statistics

There were almost 23,000 car accidents in Phoenix in 2009, the lowest in 20 years according to AZ Central. While police are still investigating facts in this case, it is possible that this child was ejected because he was not wearing his seatbelt. Even if he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, he may still have a personal injury claim. Often, even if people are not wearing their seatbelt they still would have suffered the same injuries had they been wearing one.

Interestingly, when adults don’t wear seatbelts, research shows that 70 percent of children who see them won’t either, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The department also reports that 9,500 lives in the U.S. could be saved each year if seatbelts were always used.

An experienced lawyer can investigate cases like these to see who is at fault and determine how and why injuries occurred. There are many instances where people who are not wearing seatbelts are still able to be compensated for their medical expenses and pain and suffering. Many people think a lack of seatbelt means no case at all, but that is not true and an experienced lawyer can look at the total circumstances of the accident to determine otherwise.

At Breyer Law Offices, P.C., we have helped many people reach successful settlements even when they have not had their seatbelt on at the time of the car accident.
