Multi-vehicle accidents are scary to think of especially when loved ones are involved. These types of accidents occur frequently on the highway. According to a 2009 Crash Facts Summary for Arizona, multi-vehicle crashes accounted for 87,651 out of 106,767 vehicle crashes reported. Of the 87,651 crashes, 389 of the involved fatalities.
In recent news, police have identified the four people that were killed in an Arizona semi truck crash on Interstate 10, north of Tucson, on Friday. Three of the victims were from Pittsburgh and Texas. They were riding a minivan that was struck by a semi truck. The 61-year-old truck driver from Fayetteville, was also killed. He was said to have lost control of the rig, crossed a dirt median and then slammed into the minivan. Three others were injured in the crash. Sierra Transportation currently employs 75 drivers and operates an average of 39 vehicles according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, and that it has a safety rating of “satisfactory”.
